Equipment

  • Scissors/rotary cutter
  • Glue gun
  • Cutting Mat

Materials

  • 1 plain wooden picture frame (any size)
  • 1 sheet craft foam (white)
  • 1 can primer
  • 1 can spray paint (any colour)

Instructions

  • Take the cardboard insert out of the frame and set it aside. Place the frame on top of the foam sheet and trace around it with a pen or pencil. Trace the opening on the inside as well.
  • Using a pair of scissors, cut the frame template out of the foam.
  • Grab a pen and draw your design on the foam template, then cut the shapes out.
  • Once all the shapes are cut, arrange them on the frame. Try different configurations to see what works best. Remember to keep some negative spaces alongside the foam pieces.
  • Using a glue gun and working clockwise, secure each of the foam pieces to the wooden frame, one by one.
  • In a well ventilated area, spray the entire frame with a coat of primer. Leave to dry for 3-4 hours.
  • Once dry, add the first coat of spray paint. Leave to dry 3-4 hours. Rotate the frame, then add a second coat of paint. Leave for 24 hours to cure.
  • Finish the frame with a coat of matte varnish spray. (Optional)
  • Add a photo/print. Your frame is ready to be styled and put on display!
