Artsy with a little bit of Fartsy
From testing out pre-fab kits, to taking a stab at something I found on Pinterest, I’ve been arts and crafts obsessed for as long as I can remember. While my friends were playing with dolls, I was wandering up and down the Crayola aisle at the toy store, marvelling at all the colours and things I could create with them! I loved art so much, I majored in it in University and graduated with a degree in Visual Art.
It was around this time that I fell in love with cosmetics. Make-up and art are so similar, and faces became my favourite kind of canvas to work on. After being employed as a professional make-up artist for almost ten years, I found myself at a local Canadian company that manufactured natural lip products. During my 4 years there, I worked as a brand educator and got to travel around North America to facilitate trainings, trade shows and events. I even got to choose shades and names for some of the lipsticks we made! It was probably the coolest job I’ve had to date and combined four of my great loves: make-up, teaching, creativity and colour!
Since then, I’ve been working on my art, and I decided to start this blog. I knew this would be an amazing opportunity to get back into doing what I love most – sharing and creating! Hopefully it will inspire more people to make their own stuff and show it off to the world.
