Sugar is a natural humectant. It draws moisture from the environment and locks it into the skin. Products with sugar leave your skin moisturized and smooth. It’s also a wonderful exfoliator and helps to remove dead skin cells to refresh and brighten dull looking skin.
White vs. Brown Sugar:
While white sugar is chemically refined, brown sugar is is naturally coloured using molasses. Brown sugar is a bit softer and less abrasive which makes it the better choice for lip and facial scrubs. White sugar is slightly harder and is usually best for body scrubs.
